Victoria Park
Opened in 1957 on a former typhoon refuge, Victoria Park has an area of more than 19 hectares and is one of the most popular among locals.
At the main entrance of the park there is a statue of Queen Victoria brought from London, which during the Japanese occupation was taken to Japan for its foundry but was finally rescued. The park has very complete facilities including tennis courts, swimming pool, play areas for children and large lawns and shaded spaces.
As a curiosity, Victoria Park is the meeting place of all domestic workers in the city on their day off on Sunday. It is striking the number of immigrants from Indonesia that abound in the city.
There are better things to do
Victoria Park is a very complete space ideal for citizens interested in outdoor exercise, but it can not be said to be too beautiful, so we think there are much better things to see in Hong Kong.
